Discussion group on the continuing development of the transitional settlement sector
LSU is also taking an active part in the discussions of the Shelter Centre, which supports transitional settlement and shelter in natural disaster and armed conflict by developing consensus guidelines, coordination tools and equipment with the shelter sector.
Meetings are taking place twice a year, usually in Geneva. Recent outputs of this group, comprising representatives from some 40 shelter providers (originating from UN Agencies, donor countries, NGOs and academia), include the publication of "Transitional settlement for displaced populations” (Shelter Project/Oxfam Publishing, 2005).
For more information on these discussions and on the continuing development of the transitional settlement sector see: http://www.sheltercentre.org.
