12 November 2008: A tropical depression at the end of October caused widespread flooding across Guatemala, damaging infrastructure and leaving thousands homeless. CERF responded with an immediate grant of nearly $1.5 million for the World Food Programme (WFP), the Food and Agriculture Organization of the UN (FAO), UN Population Fund (UNFPA), UN Children’s Fund (UNICEF), and World Health Organization (WHO) to address the immediate food, health, sanitation and emergency agricultural needs of the affected populations.
