  • Guinea ranks 160 of 177 countries on the Human Development Index in 2007/2008 
  • Although Guinea has fertile land, agricultural production is insufficient to meet community needs. increase on 2001. Lack of agricultural production is due to households having limited financial capabilities to buy seeds, tools and hiring labour. The government also has shrinking financial resources to invest in agriculture
  • Malnutrition is on the rise and one-third of children are fully stunted in their growth. The mortality rate for under-five children is 155 for every 1,000 live births.  Acute respiratory infections are the leading cause of morbidity in these children
