UNDAC Missions
The primary function of the UNDAC team on missions is enabling efficient field coordination on site.
On field missions, FCSS supports the UNDAC team to ensure that the team arrives rapidly at the disaster site. The Section also provides resources to enable the Team to work effectively in the disaster-stricken country and to establish a coordination mechanism for international relief actors. These include telecommunications equipment, office kits with computers and printers, shelter and personal equipment.
If additional resources are required by the UNDAC team in large-scale emergencies, FCSS has standing arrangements with national agencies to provide technical and logistics Support Modules, which can be deployed at short notice together with necessary support staff. These Support Modules include telecommunications, office equipment, transport, accommodation, and sanitation facilities.
