OCHA Funding

OCHA receives between five and six per cent of its annual budget from the UN Secretariat. Funding required for operational expenses (staff and non-staff costs) of core activities, Headquarters projects, the Integrated Regional Information Networks (IRIN), and field offices is realised from contributions by the Member States, either directly for Headquarters functions or through the Consolidated Appeals for country offices and related activities.

In order to meet its objectives for 2008, and fulfill its commitments, OCHA will require USD 181 million in extra-budgetary resources, including USD 80 million for Headquarters and USD 119 million for the field (which includes USD 25 million for Regional Offices, USD 83 million for Field Offices and USD 11 million for IRIN - Integrated Regional Information Networks). This is in addition to the USD13.8 million that OCHA will receive from the regular budget of the United Nations.

OCHA remains deeply grateful to its donors for their ongoing support. Their contributions in the past years are much appreciated, as is their dialogue with OCHA on how best to fulfill the goals of our shared mission of humanitarism. In particular, OCHA thanks its new donors and looks forward to the continued collaboration in 2008.
