Welcome to OCHA Kenya - Nakuru Field Office Minimize

OCHA established a presence at the Nakuru Hub in May 2008. The Hub serves the Nakuru Central, Nakuru North, Molo, Naivasha, Narok and Kipkelion districts of the South Rift Valley area. Nakuru district is primarily an agriculture area comprised of many small farms as well as vast agricultural areas. The main crops cultivated are coffee, wheat, barley, maize and beans. The main industries in Nakuru are focused on processing these grains, including flour milling and grain ginneries. Diary farming is also a key economic activity. Whilst floriculture dominates the industry in Naivasha district.

Molo district is situated next to Kenya’s largest forest, the Mau Forest, which contains approximately 36% of the country’s forest area, an important source of flora, fauna, biodiversity and water for the country. Molo district is also the second largest producer of potatoes in Kenya whilst it is also a large producer of the cash crop, pyrethrum.
