25 February 2005: In line with the recommendations of the Commission on Human Security (CHS), the Advisory Board on Human Security (ABHS) selected the denial of citizenship as a topic deserving further study and analysis. A background paper (available below in PDF files) was prepared for, and endorsed at the June 2004 meeting of the ABHS. During the meeting it was also decided to collaborate with like-minded partners in an effort to raise awareness and understanding of the human security challenge.

As a first step in this direction, a meeting of experts was organized by the ABHS in collaboration with the European Policy Center (EPC). Funding for the meeting was provided by the Ford Foundation.
