Members of the ABHS and representatives of the European Union gathered to examine whether and how a human security approach could help address the fluid and complex security problems and the daunting challenges faced by the EU and the international community in conflict and post-conflict situations. The Round Table was also an occasion to review and discuss lessons learned from a variety of past and present international interventions and to determine how adopting a human security approach can improve efforts towards conflict prevention, crisis management and post-conflict stabilisation. Both ABHS members and EU representatives were encouraged to note a convergence of views on the usefulness of the human security framework in analyzing and addressing complex situations and agreed to pursue their dialogue in order to promote the human security concept and its application to conflict and post-conflict situations.
