The conference took place in the Belgian Parliament and provided a forum to discuss the human security concept and its different components. Representatives from the United Nations, the European Commission, civil society, as well as the Chair of the Human Security Network took part in the conference. Among the topics discussed, participants considered the links between violent conflict and socio-economic deprivation and sought to develop practical strategies that can be incorporated in the work of different civil society actors.
