Security Tree Usage

Tree is to be used for alerting other agencies to threats or concerns, such as stay-always, mass action, public order issues or other events that may pose an
additional security risk to some or all of the other agencies.
Method of Use
1. The person reporting the event should contact the agency at the top of the tree
2. The agency at the top of the tree will contact those below them and so on until the bottom of the tree is reached.
3. Those at the bottom of the tree should call the agency at the top, confirming the message and therefore verifying that all have received.
4. Where appropriate the current Chair of the Heads of Agency Group or their delegate, should make contact with the UN security officer.
1. Where an individual on the tree is not contactable, the agency trying to make contact should contact those on the line below
2. Telephone numbers provided should be always left with the relevant representative/ contact in the organisation, i.e. when one person is on
leave the number and any information about the operations of the tree should be handed over to another person. Alternately separate details can
be provided, but this may cause confusion in the use of the tree
3. Agency staff should make sure that relevant new employees or replacements are fully conversant with the mechanism of the tree.
