The Joint Environment Unit understands that effective tools and guidelines are critical ingredients in preventing, preparing for and responding to environmental incidents to limit the impacts and environmental damage that can result. 

The Unit has also developed a number of specific tools to assist those in the preparedness and response phases of the disaster management cycle.

Once an emergency has occurred, international assistance may be requested by completing the Environmental Emergency Notification/Request for International Assistance form.
