Objective
This project seeks to increase food security and incomes of poor households in Ainaro and Manatuto Districts on an environmentally sustainable basis, using community-focused participatory methodologies. More specifically this project seeks to develop sustainable upland farming systems, support irrigation rehabilitation, livestock improvement, local seed multiplication capacity and reforestation.
Beneficiaries
Poor rural households and farming communities of Ainaro and Manatuto districts, vulnerable families including women and children, and district administration personnel.
Activities
Outputs (including distinctive aspects of the project)

24 self-help and community groups formed in Ainaro and Manatuto engaged in soil conservation and reforestation, agricultural extension, and community-driven income-generation initiatives.

Revenues of selected communities lifted through the establishment and local management of tree seedling nurseries.

Improvement of rice-paddy yields (300% increase), supporting food security and income generation, through agricultural training and environmental rehabilitation.
