The Mine Action Coordination Centre of Afghanistan (MACCA) is a project funded by United Nations Mine Action Service (UNMAS) and has been mandated by the Government of Afghanistan to coordinate all humanitarian mine action in the country in partnership with the Government's Department of Mine Clearance. The MACCA manages the national database of all known hazard and tracks progress towards clearance goals such as the Mine Ban Treaty. Each month, it publishes a newsletter with a bench marking table that tracks this progress. On the MACCA website you can access these newsletters along with a range of other reports on the programme, including the quarterly 'Fast Facts' - one page summaries on the latest mine action statistics.

Mine Action co-ordination remains a matter of protection concern for the Afghanistan Protection Cluster for its  direct relevance to the humanitarian protection of affected Afghan populations. The theme of Mine Action remains on the agenda of the Afghanistan Protection cluster.
