(2) Role in emergency relief and reconstruction

UNDP is on the ground in 166 countries - on hand to operationalise crisis prevention and recovery and to help bridge the gap between emergency relief and long-term development.  When emergencies and natural disasters occur, UNDP Offices on the ground help in coordinating rehabilitation and reconstruction efforts at the national, regional and local level.

UNDP's work in crisis and post-conflict environments (Natural Disaster Reduction, Mine Action, Conflict Prevention & Peace Building, etc.) has a strong emphasis on local capacity development, needs-identification and management.
