The Information and Advocacy Section prepares humanitarian publications. The section prepares ‘Focus on Ethiopia’, a monthly publication on specific topics as appropriate and Relief Bulletin on humanitarian developments in the country on weekly bases. The section also drafts a monthly report on behalf of the humanitarian coordinator to the UN Emergency Relief Coordinator. It prepares the weekly Note to Management for its HQ in Geneva, highlighting critical issues in a brief bulleted format. The section also prepares briefing packages for visits of high level delegations and actively coordinates UN inputs into briefing documents, Special Alerts and Appeals. It provides the necessary media assistance by preparing Media Alerts and Press Releases jointly with other UN agencies or on behalf of them.
