The Consolidated Appeals Process (CAP) is a mechanism which was used by aid organizations in Guinea from 2001 to 2006 to implement and monitor activities. Working together humanitarian partners every year developed a Common Humanitarian Action Plan and an appeal, which was presented to the international community and donors.
As a planning mechanism, the CAP contributed significantly to developing a more strategic approach to the provision of humanitarian aid in Guinea. As a coordination mechanism the CAP fostered closer cooperation between governments, donors, aid agencies, and a range of other humanitarian organizations.
In view of the phasing out of humanitarian activities, participants in the process decided not to develop a common humanitarian action plan and appeal for Guinea for 2007. Guinea is, however, still included in the regional CAP for West Africa for 2007 which provides a framework for humanitarian coordination at a regional level.
