On 1 July 2009, OCHA ROSA organised in Johannesburg a regional workshop on humanitarian reform and financing for Resident Coordinators, regional representatives and humanitarian partners from the Southern Africa sub-region. The aim of the workshop was to arrive at recommendations for; (i) the activation and implementation of the Cluster Approach in future emergencies and to prioritise the mainstreaming of its principles in preparedness and response activities; (ii) to strengthen humanitarian financing for both life-saving activities and early recovery programming and; (iii) the role of Regional Directors Team (RDT) and RIACSO to better support country-level preparedness and response within the context of humanitarian reform.
