The third annual pre-rainfall season Regional Training Workshop for Emergency Preparedness Planning in Southern Africa took place from 06 - 08 October 2009 in Johannesburg, South Africa. Organized around the theme Strengthening The Southern Africa Development Community (SADC) disaster preparedness and response in the context of compounded vulnerability and increasing risks, the workshop was convened by the SADC Secretariat, with support from cooperating partners. The objective of the workshop was to enhance disaster preparedness and response capacity and systems at regional and country level.
