FAO/FSAU - Food Security and Analysis Unit
The Food Security Analysis Unit- Somalia (FSAU) seeks to provide evidence-based analysis of Somali food, nutrition and livelihood security to enable both short-term emergency responses and long-term strategic planning to promote food and livelihood security for Somali people. With a unique Livelihoods-Based Approach to food security analysis that combines both livelihood strategies and livelihood assets, FSAU has six Core Technical Activities that are conceptually and analytically organized within the FSAU Food Security Analysis System (FSAS): Baseline Livelihoods Analysis; Annual Food Security Vulnerability Projections; Rapid Food Security and Nutrition Assessments; Livelihoods Key Indicator Monitoring at macro and community levels; Nutrition Surveillance and Analysis; and Applied Research
FAO/SWALIM - Somalia Water and Land Information Management Unit
SWALIM, which is managed by FAO, stands for Somalia Water and Land Information Management, and the name says it all – it is an information management unit serving Somali administrations, non-governmental organisations, development agencies and UN organisations engaged in assisting Somali communities whose lives depend directly on water and land resources
Somali Joint Needs Assessment (Somali-JNA)
The objective of the Somali Joint Needs Assessment is to help Somalia begin to achieve sustained reconstruction and development and deepen the peace process. It does this by having teams of Somali and international technical experts work together to assess needs and develop prioritized strategies to achieve reconstruction and development and reinforce peace building. The Somali-JNA is co-lead by the United Nations Development Group (UNDG) and the World Bank (WB).
